I took the gun artwork from the fallout wikipedia and printed it.
I had to adjust the size a bit to fit in my hand perfectly. I then traced the patterns on to craft foam mostly and transfered the patterns to a thermoplastic called Cosplayflex.
The body of the gun is hollow inside since it consists of two craft foam halfs that I shaped into the 2 pieces below.
I actually wanted a functional trigger, which should activate the light of the gun in the back.
I didn’t have an EL panel with me, so I decided to use a EL wire which I had on hand and turn it into a panel-like shape. It did work in the end!
I squeezed the wire between 2 translucent sheets of plastic and it was done.
I then build a makeshift trigger for the gun and it actually was the easiest thing ever. The spring was taken from a regular pen.
The battery pack was later stuck in a holster inside the gun, so I could take it out to replace the batteries. The trigger and the battery holster were an idea I made up during the build.
I didn’t really had any plans for those in the beginning.
The green automotive spray paint I had at home had the perfect tone for this gun, so I didn’t have to buy a new can.
